running indoors

I haven't been able to run all week, because of the demands of school and whatever. But last night it was pouring down rain (thanks, Ivan!), so I was forced to run on the track at the IM Building. I only ran 5K, because it was so boring. I actually lost count of my laps at a couple of points, but I think I ended up running it in 25 minutes flat.

Sun's out today, so maybe I can get in some real running. I have Tussey MountainBack in two weeks!

This is better

What a difference a couple of days makes. I decided to run the 10K course again, after two days off from running. (Stupid school!) Last time I felt like crap the entire time, and had to endure age-related insults some a certain short, evil Amish girl.

Today I felt great the entire time, and finished in 52:24. This in spite of stopping to get a hug from the lovely Shara. The only thing I was disappointed with was my finish: my last 1.2 miles was a pokey 11 minutes. Although I did have to run around a lot of students, I should have had a better finishing kick.

What was the difference? I think the main thing was that I made sure to stay hydrated (hydration is the key), but I stopped drinking water about an hour before I ran. I also spent some extra time stretching beforehand. Good old downward dog!

Time to go get changed. I stink.
